We’ve had a cold and rainy few days. Whenever the weather’s like this, it slows me down big time.

Not that I’m hyper fast and hustling all the time anyway. Haha But you know, when things are cold, things are rainy, I slow down a little bit more. I’ve spent this week doing one thing though.

There’s a vegan market coming up. I’ve spoken about it in the podcast before also. It happens a few times a year in Bangalore. It’s called Namu Recommends.

So I help them out with the promotion. Not officially or anything like that, but whenever the market is on, they send me different products to try from various vendors who’ll be participating in this time’s market. I post about it on Insta and stuff like that.

And I get to taste all the yummy goodies. So yummy!

I don’t do any brand collaborations.

I stopped that a few years ago. Didn’t find it was worth it. But when it comes to the market, I like to promote them, because it’s an effective thing.

Just by promoting this one event, I end up getting a bunch of different small businesses noticed, new businesses known. People can discover several vegan products through me. It’s been nice. Most of my week has gone off in that.

So it’s late, quite late for me to be publishing this episode. But I have to do it because today, I wanted to share something with you. A small reminder.

Oh, by the way, if you’re new here, I’m Susmitha Veganosaurus, and you’re listening to The Feel Good Factor. Welcome!

On to today’s story.

Picture this – You launch your conscious business. Yay! You’re full of happiness and enthusiasm!

You want your venture to grow, so you work on it every single day, and you stress about it late into the night.

Sounds familiar?

Any small business owner will probably be nodding their head right now, especially if it’s a purpose-driven conscious business.

Thoughts about your business never cease. Like, never.

As long as you’re running it, it’s always on your mind.

There’s not much time for anything else in your life. So even though it’s difficult and you’re not as happy as you were when you started off, you feel like, okay, the hard work and sacrifices are worth it.

You think it’s the only way this business can grow, right?

Wrong.

First of all, words like ‘sacrifice’ are overrated. You don’t have to give up a damn thing that’s good for you, that you love, just so you can be successful in your work.

Life is not supposed to be all struggle, struggle, stress, stress. Happiness is our natural state of being.

We’re meant to feel joyful most of the time, and even when we’re working hard, it should feel good

But we have this need to…

  • control things
  •
undervalue ourselves
  •
not respect our time

  • compare and compete

  • stagnate in this mentality of lack

  • embrace many fear-based ways of thinking

All this stops us from being joyful.

Add to this a layer of being a conscious entrepreneur, working towards a greater cause, and you pile on a whole new set of expectations and pressures onto yourself!

Look, I’ve been through all this unnecessary struggle with my own vegan business

I used to run a vegan restaurant for several years. And throughout, I used to let my fear of failure haunt my mind and suck the joy out of me completely.

But here’s the question you need to ask yourself…

What’s the use of a growing business if you’re anxious all the freaking time?

When I realised this, I worked very hard to shift my mindset. I started prioritising happiness and doing things in ways that light me up from within.

Embracing success in a much more holistic, well-balanced, self-loving way completely changed the game for me.

So, today’s podcast is just a reminder for you. Ask yourself, you know, “is this worth it?”

“Am I working too hard? Am I sacrificing too much for a payoff that may or may not happen in the future?”

Everything I learnt the hard way by myself, I want to bring to light to you so that you can do it the easy way. You ask yourself these questions now, you contemplate on this issue now, you’ll make things easy for yourself.

So yeah, that’s it. That is today’s tiny, teeny little episode. Just a reminder that…

Success is not success if it’s not on your own terms, if you’re not fulfilled, if you’re not feeling this good, uplifting energy most of the time

So step back a bit from your business, do a little soul searching, and adjust things as needed, okay?

All right, I’ll talk to you again next week. Take care.
